Sector: Le Diable
Regarded as one of the signature routes at Les 2 Alpes but, unfortunately, prone to poor snow cover on its south-westerly orientated slopes.
The route can be started via the
Vallons, the
Petit Diable, or the
Descente pistes, all of which begin at
Le Diable 2400; it can also be reached by following the [flat]
Petites Crêtes a Vallons link-track, which traverses across from a point next to the massive ridge-line pylon for the Jandri Express 1 cable car (55), near the upper terminal of the
Petites Crêtes chairlift (29).
The best way to start, when conditions permit, is via the
Vallons piste; that being the route which delivers the most testing & most consistent slope angle.
The
Diable run hugs the pylon-line of its namesake
gondola, taking the direct but often patchy fall line until it reaches a clearly defined cut to the skier's right, heading towards town. The Vallons du Diable off-piste route joins in here from the skier's left [at the point where the
Diable turns to the skier's right].
The final approach to the base-area slopes is well signposted, and allows you to traverse to almost any point on the base-area strip along the edge of the resort.
