Regarded as one of the signature routes at Les 2 Alpes but, unfortunately, prone to poor snow cover on its south-westerly orientated slopes.
The route can be started via the Vallons off-piste slope
, the Diable 3
, or Vallons 2
pistes, all of which begin at Diable 2400
; it can also be reached by following the [flat] Vallons 1 link-track
, which traverses across from a point next to the massive ridge-line pylon for the Jandri Express 1 cable car, near the upper end of the Petites Cretes beginners' lift.
The best way to start, when conditions permit, is via the Vallons off-piste route
; that being the route which delivers the most testing & most consistent slope angle.
The Diable run
hugs the line of its namesake Chairlift
, taking the direct but often patchy fall line until it reaches a clearly defined cut to the skier's right, heading towards town. The Vallons du Diable off-piste route and Vallons 4 piste
join in here from the skier's left [at the point where the Diable 1 piste
turns to the skier's right].
The final approach to the base-area slopes is well signposted, and allows you to traverse to almost any point on the base-area strip along the edge of the resort.
