Sector: Glacier
A massive hanger-sized structure plonked on a wide ledge at the edge of the glacier at 3200 m (10,496 ft). The building may not be regarded as attractive, but it is functional & warm.
There is an exterior snack-bar with a patio area overlooking the base terminals of the nearby
Puy-Salié T-bar tows: serving hot drinks; chips; hot dogs; burgers; etc. Lockable ski racks are also positioned in this area: they are operated using tokens (
jetons) from a nearby vending machine. The far side of the building has a huge south-facing terrace, furnished with plenty of deckchairs plus tables & chairs.
Inside, there is a full-service bar and two separate restaurants: the main one is self-service; the other is à la carte.
The main canteen is busy & brash, but the space is roomy & bright and the food selection is fairly wide: with ready-made salads and a choice of around 10 hot dishes, including pastas plus meat & vegetable combos. Microwaves are provided for public use here, for reheating food if it cools too quickly out on the terrace.
Contained within this same space, but segregated from the self-service canteen, is the à la carte dining section; this has been decorated in faux chalet style to give a slightly more refined atmosphere. It features more select variations of the main restaurant's meals, including fair-value set menus.
