Sectors: Le Diable/Les Crêtes
A steep and mostly ungroomed run down a wide rocky couloir above the Lac du Plan area, with a hint of off-piste to its character.
It is accessed using the
Bellecombes chairlift (35), or via the flat traverse track (
Liaison Super Diable a Toura) from the
Super Diable chairlift (34). The approach is easy, over an open expanse of undulating snowfield spread out beneath the upper section of the Bellecombes chairlift. Go furthest over to the skier's left if you want to reach the route's original [highest & steepest] off-piste drop-in point.
There is plenty of scope for playing off the sides too: the skier's lefthand wall of the couloir gives the best challenge. The steep & testing mid-section is the crux of the descent, but lasts for no more than 300–350 m (328–383 yd). Don't go too low, or you will have to hike out; instead, swing to the skier's left and stay high to traverse along the contour line parallel to the line of the chairlift.
The route then merges with the finish of the
Séa Grand Nord track for the final few metres to the Bellecombes chairlift terminal (35). As well as linking with this chairlift, you also have the option to continue straight on [via the
Route du Thuit] into the Thuit Coomb, towards
Les Crêtes 2100.
