Sector: Les Crêtes
Colloquially known as the ‘White Eggs’, this old-fashioned ‘bubble’ gondola is still one of the principal lifts out of the central resort area; rising to Les Crêtes 2100, where it links with the Jandri 2 cable car (33).
It departs from a large base-terminal station just behind the central tourist office in place des 2 Alpes, at the edge of the main base-area slopes. Access is via a ramp up from the piste level, with plenty of information boards beside the queue lines: displaying current pistes/lifts status, weather bulletins, and avalanche risk level.
The cabins are very cramped for four people, exacerbated by the fact that snowboards must be carried inside (only skis fit in the external gear racks); don't be concerned if your snowboard sticks out a little, but do be careful not to impede the automatic doors.
Although small, the cabins have wrapround windows which let in plenty of light, and allow you to make the most of the bird's-eye views over the base-area slopes and the town. The line of travel passes almost directly above the route of the ungroomed
Sapins slope, giving experienced visitors a good opportunity to plan their home runs down the face of the mountain. Nearing the upper terminal, you also get a useful orientating view over the busy Les Crêtes 2100 area.
On Arrival: at the upper terminal, exit to the right: then either U-turn to the left into the forward section of the same building to board the
Jandri 2 cable car (33), towards the
Toura 2600 sector interchange; or, put your gear on to glide away out on to the plateau below. For a guide to onward routes & links, please consult our orientation guide to
