Sectors: Le Diable/Les Crêtes
One of the most challenging of the
home-run descents that spill off the ridges directly above Les Deux Alpes and flow all the way down to the edge of the town.
It is accessed via the
Petites Crêtes a Vallons link track, which starts next to the huge ridge-line pylon for the Jandri Express 1 cable car (55) on the skier's lefthand side of the
Crêtes piste, between
Le Diable 2400 &
Les Crêtes 2100. You begin by traversing to the skier's left just below the crest of the ridge, before dropping straight down the face; funnelling through a narrower, ungroomed, mogulled swath through the trees, which then widens out for the final thigh-burning section veering towards the southern end of the main base-area slopes below.
If you stay high enough at the finish of
Le Y, you can glide to virtually any point on the pisted meadows that border this eastern side of the resort.
NB:
Le Y is pronounced LUH-EE-GREC.
