Sectors: Les Crêtes/Le Diable
The pistes that spill off the eastern ridges directly above Les Deux Alpes flow down the steep face of the mountainside on to the main base-area slopes, allowing you to make home runs right to the edge of the resort.
The principal
Valentin piste is the most viable route: wide, frequently groomed, and protected by snowmaking, it can be regarded as a high-end red, despite its official black grading. The other black-graded routes do deserve their advanced-level classification, and are some of the toughest on-piste descents in the entire domain: namely the
Diable,
Le Y, and the
Sapins.
There is also one novice-level home run, the
Chemin des Demoiselles, although it is very flat and tedious, and prone to poor snow cover; but on the right day in the right conditions it opens up the mountain for all visitors to enjoy the satisfaction of skiing all the way back to town, in many cases directly to slopeside accommodation.
