Sectors: Le Diable/Les Crêtes
Although just a contour-line link from Le Diable 2400 to the Lac du Plan area, this road-like traverse is noteworthy because it gives access to a cracking red-profile start to the
Thuit piste, one of the best intermediate-standard runs in the domain, funnelling down the middle of the Thuit Coomb.
Also, when spliced with the
Route du Thuit, the
Séa Grand Nord provides novices with an interesting long excursion through some wild & stunning scenery.
The route begins at
Le Diable 2400, just below the upper terminal of the 3-seater
Thuit chairlift (32), and is easily reached on dismount either from that lift or from the nearby
Crêtes chairlift (28); it is also close to the upper-terminal station of the
Diable gondola (23), but a short inclined stroll/skate is required when approached from that level. The directional signs are subtitled as ‘Liaison Diable a Lac du Plan’; the route is well maintained and easy to follow.
About 250 m (274 yd) from the start, the red-profile upper section of the excellent
Thuit run drops away into the coomb to the skier's left; otherwise, keep gliding straight on. The rest of the route runs gently through the wild & rocky scenery of this glacially carved landscape, eventually swinging to the skier's left and dipping down on a slightly steeper pitch to the edge of the Lac du Plan, by the base of the
Bellecombes chairlift (35), joined by traffic from the skier's right from the finish of the
Grand Couloir run.
To continue the circuit to
Les Crêtes 2100, follow the signs for the
Route du Thuit (Jandri 2), through the cutting ahead-left.
