Sector: La Fée
A decent challenge, accessed from the upper mid-section of the
Fée piste, and manageable by confident intermediates.
It is housed in a huge steep chute, off the skier's righthand edge of the
Fée piste: the earlier you drop in, the tougher the ride is; with a myriad different lines possible from anywhere along the rim. The slope angle is very consistent for the majority of the run, funnelling down towards a tarn in the hanging valley below.
The route is designated as a groomed piste, but is often left ungroomed following fresh snowfalls; it should definitely feature on a must-do list on powder days.
The only drawback to this route is that it has a very flat finish, across the tarn depression at the bottom of the chute, requiring a hike out when the snow is deep (the very conditions to be expected when the run is at its most appealing).
On exit, you meet the flat mid-section of the
Gours run, and join that towards the base terminal of
La Fée chairlift (37).
A fair alternative, to avoid the slog out at the bottom, is to play on the uppermost section and then traverse out to the skier's left before you go too low, allowing you to exit close to the nearby
La Fée bar/restaurant.
