Mountain Restaurants
There are seven different catering sites at various altitudes throughout the ski area, all bar one (at La Fée) are directly accessible by ski lift. Most are attractive atmospheric venues offering good-quality à la carte fare; all offer a full bar service and most have snack food options too; three are self service.
Please read our
Mountain Restaurants chapter for specific venue reviews.
There are also plenty of
venues dotted along the main base-area slopes and at the Grande Place in
Les 2 Alpes 1800, all easily accessible from the pistes.
Picnic Areas
Les 2 Alpes has lots of designated picnic spots dotted around the ski domain, many at spectacular viewpoints. There are always a few benches and tables provided, along with litter bins. The sites are marked on the local piste map with a
|P| symbol.
To help protect this beautiful environment, please take all your leftovers and/or packaging waste (plus any that you find nearby) to one of the litter bins provided.
There are also two indoor picnic saloons. These are very plain and quite bare, simply furnished with some tables & chairs, but they are sheltered, fairly bright with plenty of natural daylight, and close to other services:
one is tucked underneath the terrace at
La Patache restaurant at
Les Crêtes 2100;
the other is at the upper-terminal station of the Jandri Express 2 cable car at the
Glacier 3200 sector interchange.
Public Telephones
Phonecard & coin-operated public telephone boxes are plentiful around Les Deux Alpes town; out on the slopes there are some public telephones sited at the largest mountain restaurants. There are also a couple of public telephone boxes in the villages of Mont-de-Lans and
Venosc.
Phonecards are available from tobacconists and from most supermarkets.
GSM/GPRS mobile phone signal coverage is virtually 100 per cent, within the boundaries of the resort & ski domain
WCs
Public WCs are provided at the following locations:
• Venosc gondola base station
• beside the tourist office annex at place de l'Alpe de Venosc
• at the central tourist office in place des 2 Alpes
• on the avenue de la Muzelle in the resort centre
• at the tourist office on the roundabout at place de l'Alpe de Mont-de-Lans
• at the Grand Place in Les 2 Alpes 1800 quarter.
Out on the mountains, there are WCs at the top of the
Super Venosc chairlift (21) in the Pied Moutet sector; at the rear of the
Chalet de la Toura bar/restaurant at Toura 2600; and at the large Piste-Patrol building in the middle of the
Glacier 3200 sector interchange area.
All of the mountain restaurants also have WCs; some levy a small charge.
