This short, fast red begins steeply off the skier's left-hand side of the gentle
La Basera route, which funnels traffic out of the lower reaches of the Coma sector.
After its initial steep pitch, the piste is then a straight schuss, veering to the skier's right towards a short tunnel which exits just above the lower
base lodge. CAUTION: cut your speed before spilling out into the busy base area.
Although short,
La Canaleta can be spliced on to the end of
La Balma to create a continuous 3 km (2 mile) summit-to-base home-run. It is also handy for bypassing the long trek presented by the flat
La Basera route.
