La Coma sweeps down through the middle of this wide open sector from the top of Les Portelles link area, with lots of freeride fun to be had popping off the piste into little gullies and deeper snow pockets.
The route begins just above
Les Portelles snack bar, level with the upper terminal of
La Coma chairlift.
Either drop off to the skier's left under the line of the arriving La Coma chairlift, for a short steeper variation called
Els Terragalls; or, take the main
La Coma route leading away from the bar down the wide motorway piste parallel to the lift line. Shortly after this you will be swinging to the skier's left to meet with
Els Terragalls, which joins from above-left.
La Coma then continues the onward descent as a wide, perfectly groomed ribbon of corduroy piste, offering a style-flattering cruise over gently undulating terrain.
Nearing the lower section, you again have a couple of variations to choose from:
either swing over to the skier's left to merge with the lower section of
El Túnel, to make the best link over to the
Coma restaurants building; or, keep to the skier's right and go straight down the fall-line on the short steep pitch known as
El Mur to schuss out towards La Coma chairlift and/or to link with the flat
La Basera home run towards Arcalís base station.
