Sector: Arcalís Cirque (accessed from La Coma Sector)
Another serious black in the upper Arcalís Cirque, this time dropping over a col from the upper La Coma sector. Accessed by taking the start of
La Balma from any of the three chairlifts that rise to the Portelles link area between the two sectors.
On the top section of
La Balma, head down towards the huge pyramidal peak straight ahead, then turn to the skier's right in front of this rocky bulk to ride over the col into the Arcalís Cirque beyond. The route then immediately takes on a true black status, on a 45-degree-plus mogulled slope, with a wealth of variant lines possible into the main sector below.
The run is only 640 m (700 yd) long from top to bottom, but it's a real thigh-burner.
The onward descent is completed via
La Portella del Mig.
