ARCALÍS: VISITOR SERVICES & FACILITIES
Cash Machines (ATMs)
There are no cash machines at Arcalís; the nearest are at the banks in Ordino.
The range of venues is limited. Large self-service restaurants cover both floors of each base lodge
; there is also an on-piste restaurant building in the Coma sector (self-service on the ground floor and à la carte upstairs), plus a cosy high-altitude snack bar at the arrival-level lifts junction between the two sectors.
Both self-service restaurants offer a similar selection of snack foods, grills, and daily set-menu specials; based around basic meat-&-two-veg style meals.
Prices at Arcalís are a little lower than those at other Andorran stations.
Please read our Mountain Restaurants
chapter for specific venue reviews.
Indoor picnic rooms are provided at both base lodges and at the restaurant building in the Coma sector. The spaces at the Coma restaurant and upper base lodge are small and soul-less, but the picnic room at the lower base lodge is one of the nicest in Andorra. This latter venue is tucked under the timber-built eaves on the uppermost floor, with plenty of natural daylight, wooden furniture and wood-clad walls; the space is fairly cosy, and is just up the stairs from the main bar/restaurant (handy for augmenting your packed lunch).
Out on the mountain, perhaps the most spectacular picnic spot is above the arrival point of the Creussans chairlift, at the highest point in the ski area, on the French border at the far side of the Coma sector. The views over the French and Spanish border areas, and over the Coma ski sector and peaks beyond, are breathtaking; on a clear day you can make out the Grandvalira ski domain on the horizon (NE).
It is forbidden to picnic on any of the restaurant terraces. Otherwise, anywhere safe on the mountain is fine.
To help protect this beautiful environment, please take all your leftovers and/or packaging waste (plus any that you find nearby) to one of the litter bins provided.
Other than the one equipment rental shop, down by the lower base lodge, which sells the usual selection of last-minute accessories, the only other retail unit at Arcalís is a small newsstand and photo-service at the rear of the upper base lodge.
Phonecard-operated telephone booths are situated on the ground floors of both base lodge buildings; phonecards are available from the roadside shop at the rear of the upper lodge.
GSM/GPRS mobile phone signal coverage is virtually 100 per cent.
Located at both base lodges and at the Coma sector restaurant, also at the upper roadside parking area; all free-of-charge.
