APRÈS SKI & NIGHTLIFE
When the sun goes down, the focus for fun turns away from the pistes and towards the resorts. La Massana town has some shops, but nightlife is relatively low key. In contrast, Arinsal really knows how to party. Most bars stay open until 03:00hrs and there is always some live music or themed event going on.
Just remember though, if you're too wasted to hit the hill the following day, that's over 15 per cent of a 6-day lift pass & riding time wasted too!
Throughout the season, all resorts arrange a calendar of events for major national holidays and local festivals. Expect open-air live music performances and fireworks.
Bowling & Games Arcade
The Hotel Princesa Parc complex has a four-lane ten-pin bowling alley and arcade games saloon: with pool tables, air hockey, table football, half-a-dozen full-scale arcade video-games and an Internet café. This games zone is in a huge bright basement area under the hotel. It has a full bar service and is open until midnight. The bowling alley is very popular and, therefore, it is best to book in advance; priority is given to hotel residents.
Arinsal really scores for après ski pampering with the ‘Centre de Relax’ at the Hotel Princesa Parc complex. The centre boasts a large hydromassage pool, Jacuzzi, saunas and hamman steam rooms, plus it offers a range of beauty and massage treatments. It is located next to the bowling & games arcade on the lower ground floor of the hotel, and is also open to non-residents.
More extensive ‘wellness’ facilities are available at Andorra's famous Caldea Spa
located in Escaldes-Engordany (on the northern outskirts of Andorra la Vella).
La Massana is the largest town in Vallnord, but its range of shops is quite limited, although it does have a newsagents, a pharmacy, a butcher/fishmonger and a couple of small supermarkets, as well as a laundrette, a hairdressers and a florist.
Arinsal village only has a few snowsports shops, a small supermarket, a pharmacy, a couple of convenience stores, a newsagent/souvenir shop and a laundrette.
If you need more serious retail therapy, the glitzy commercial attractions of Andorra la Vella are just down the valley and are easily accessible by bus or taxi.
Both La Massana and Arinsal have centrally located ATMs, as do all of the main resorts and towns in Andorra.
English-language instructions are quick to find and the user-interface is usually as straightforward and familiar as your own bank's machines back home.
