Gateway To The Slopes
The natural snowline at Arinsal really begins at the Comallempla 1950 m (6398 ft) level. This is the highest altitude reachable by road, and is the same altitude as the arrival point of the
gondola up from the village.
The 6-seater
Arinsal chairlift from the village's Cota 1550 suburb also arrives here, right beside the gondola and facing the base lodge complex. This 4-storey building (called the ‘Edifici Arinsal’) is the main services focus for this sector, and is usually buzzing with activity throughout the day.
Orientation
Beginners are inducted into ski school classes on the flat ground closest to the gondola/chairlift arrival platforms; from there it is a flat walk/skate to the nearby
beginners' zone, and to the children's
Snow Garden & ‘Baby Club’ crèche, and the
Refugi bar/restaurant. The ski school office is on the same level as the base lodge roof terrace: on the left at the top of the steps leading up from directly in front of the gondola/chairlift arrival platforms.
The two principal chairlifts serving the ski area depart from the bottom of the pistes just to the looker's left of the base lodge (ground floor level): an easy stroll/skate from the village gondola/chairlift terminals (go ahead-left on arrival); or just a short on-piste glide around the [far] side of the rooftop terrace.
All main pistes flow down to this base area too; there is only one ‘home-run’ piste (
Les Marrades), which begins at the far side of the Refugi bar/restaurant, descending to the Cota 1550 suburb to finish beside the Aparthotel Crest;
there are no home-runs back to Arinsal village centre. However, once you are at the base lodge level, or out in the ski area, there is no need to return to resort until the end of the day.
