Sector: Arinsal
This is basically a gentler twin of
Les Fonts, but on the opposite side of the upper Arinsal snowbowl. Ski school classes are usually brought here for their first forays into the main ski area.
The top section is a busy confluence area for several routes off Pic Negre, converging on the wide snowfields that slope gently away from the
Xina Igloo bar/restaurant level and skirt the top of the
FreeStyle Area. Traversing over to the skier's right here gives a fair link to
El Coll button tow, which ascends to the high
Port Negre saddle.
The mid-section of the route is straightforward and very easy, running parallel to the line of the
Port Negre chairlift. Directly beneath the lift-line, a fence runs down the middle of the slope and splits it into two: there is no real difference in profile between these two parallel straights, and both make good links with the Port Negre chairlift below; the piste to the skier's lefthand side of the fence is officially the
Port Vell, to the skier's right the piste is called the
Margarida.
Continuing past the chairlift get-on point, you can either peel off to the skier's left and ride up over the high ground to cross the line of the Salador button tow and take the short
Salador link piste over to join the main
Les Fonts route, or simply continue straight down on the seamless onward descent, together with the merged
Margarita, towards the
MexicObelix bar/restaurant area.
Approaching the MexicObelix: either keep ahead-right for the bar/restaurant and/or to head for the
Estadi and
La Tossa pistes; or, swing over to the skier's left to cross to the opposite side of the hill to join the final section of
Les Fonts towards the
base lodge and the main ski lifts.
