ESPIOLETS SELF-SERVICE (££)

The main self-service restaurant at Espiolets 2250, housed on the upper floor of the Espiolets services building on the Espiolets Plateau, next to the upper terminals of the Soldeu gondola & chairlift.

The venue has quite a plain interior, decorated with black & white photo-posters of local ski pioneers and pre-resort landscapes; it also has an exterior balcony with good views over the ground-floor café terrace and the beginners' zone.

A second, little-known, snow-patio is also occasionally open at the rear of the building, with views over the Valira Valley towards Soldeu village.

The self-service selection includes a fair range of salads, pastas, grilled meats, and usually one fish dish, all with a choice of vegetables; basic puddings; plus bottled/canned drinks, and lager on tap. Microwave ovens are available for reheating food if it gets too cold out on the balcony.

The ground floor of this building houses an Espress'Oh! café, with a large piste-side terrace served by a Xirixuca snack kiosk.
