Sector: Soldeu
From the high Collada de les Solanelles at 2458 m (8064 ft), this enjoyable blue run begins as a short steep link into the Cubil Valley, which is shared with Grandvalira's Grau Roig sector. Immediately after dropping in, there is a wide junction below: swoop down tightest to the skier's left to remain on the
Riu de les Solanelles piste; or stay central to join the Grau Roig sector's
Solanella and Riu del Cubil runs (and/or the contour-line spur traversing towards the Llac del Cubil ski lifts for the most direct route towards Grau Roig & Pas de la Casa).
The
Riu de les Solanelles piste sweeps through a wide gully as it descends away from this junction, offering some freestyling opportunities off its pipe-like sides, before running straight towards the base terminals of the twin Pla de les Pedres chairlifts (the nearest belongs to the Grau Roig sector; the
Soldeu sector lift is the lower one to the skier's left).
If you miss the last lift back to the Soldeu sector, don't panic!
You can ski out of the Cubil Valley by following the track leading off to the skier's left from the base of the Pla de les Pedres Soldeu chairlift. This traverses out to reach the
Ós piste for the home run to Soldeu village.
