Sector: Soldeu
Although not actually on the slopes, this attractive large restaurant has traditionally been one of the most popular lunch venues in the Soldeu sector, and is still one of the best alternatives to the ‘official’ Grandvalira mountain restaurants.
Perched on the village side of the Valira Ravine, close to the
gondola base station, opposite Soldeu's home-run pistes; its two huge tiered terraces face the sun throughout the day and are usually busy from mid-morning to early evening.
Accessible from the pistes via a steep track from the foot of the gondola building, and/or directly from the open-air car park just off Soldeu's main street.
Fare on offer includes soups, salads, pastas, omelettes, and grilled meat dishes; the menu also includes fondues, but these must be pre-ordered; lighter bites such as chips and paninis are also available. Full bar service.
The well-regarded à la carte dining room on the upper floor offers much more refined fusion cuisine: combining Asian, Catalan and French influences.
