Sector: El Tarter
A really enjoyable fast red on the flanks of the Pic d'Encampadana, starting level with the base terminal of the
Llosada button tow, or just where the
Daina piste enters El Tarter's snowbowl when linking from the Canillo sector.
The route begins with a full-on schuss, then, after this initial 200 m (219 yd) blast, the run flattens and saps your speed as it inclines towards the high ground ahead; maintain your momentum as best you can to crest this rise. The piste then picks up pace again on the other side, developing into a really nice red-grade slope with a good mixture of terrain, both on-piste and off to the sides.
More advanced riders can leave to the skier's right, highest after the crest, to ride through the glades and drop into a gnarly narrow gully hidden away in the rocky terrain ahead; making an exit below, hopefully in one piece, to rejoin the piste.
The final steep section of the
Tamarro finishes by turning sharp to the skier's left to run straight towards the
Riba Escorxada services area as a long flat schuss, making a fair link with the
Llosada chairlift.
