RESORT VILLAGES

Soldeu
Soldeu village is the main resort focus in this region, and is dominated by UK/Eire tour operators who helped establish its international renown, albeit originally aimed at a cheap-&-cheerful, young-&-lively demographic.

The village's roots as a youth destination still run deep, with a good selection of lively bars and a focus on nightlife; but it now also boasts a plush 5-star hotel with a fabulous wellness & beauty spa, plus a further five 4-star hotels, and thus now attracts a much more cosmopolitan and increasingly sophisticated clientele.

El Tarter
A cluster of accommodation and resort services, 3 km (2 miles) west of Soldeu.
There are a couple of hotels at the base of the ski lifts and home-run pistes, but the village's main residential area is on the opposite side of the main through-road.

There is a sprinkling of bars, restaurants and shops in El Tarter, but most visitors take a local bus or taxi to the more substantial resort village of Soldeu, a 5-minute drive away.

There is also a further satellite accommodation zone at Vall d'Incles, midway between El Tarter and Soldeu; guests staying there also tend to make the journey to Soldeu for evening entertainment and need to take a ski bus in order to reach the ski lifts and the pistes.

Canillo
Canillo lies 5 km (3 miles) further down from El Tarter, on the busy through-route towards Andorra la Vella and Spain.

It is a small and pleasant working village, quiet and not touristy, yet it boasts a large modern sports centre housing Andorra's only Olympic-standard ice rink, and has a substantial base-station complex with a direct gondola link to Grandvalira's compact family-orientated El Forn ski area. Onward ski lift & piste links from El Forn into the neighbouring El Tarter sector are fairly straightforward.
